PURPOSE: A non-contact type vehicle classification device improves the detection accuracy of vehicle information by sensing the passage of a vehicle by optical sensors installed on the bottom of detection pieces. CONSTITUTION: The top of a frame (5) is pressurized by a vehicle wheel and the bottom includes an insertion groove (52) opened in a longitudinal direction. Sensor modules (8,8') are made up of multiple detection pieces, cut-off parts, and optical sensors. The detection pieces control the cut-off parts to block the propagation of an optical signal when the detection pieces are bent downward and are inserted into the insertion groove of the top frame. A support plate (3) is arranged on the bottom of the sensor modules. A control unit determines that the detection pieces are bent when the value of an optical signal received is less than a predetermined value. |
