PURPOSE: A heat pump type hot and cold water supply apparatus is provided to reduce a cooling load which is caused by the oversupply of a refrigerant by temporarily storing the refrigerant which is condensed in a first heat exchanger during a cooling operation. CONSTITUTION: A heat pump type hot and cold water supply apparatus comprises a first heat exchanger (11), an expansion valve (12), and a liquid receiver (15). The liquid receiver is connected to the refrigerant supplement line (16) which is branched off from a refrigerant line between the expansion valve and the first heat exchanger. A refrigerant which is condensed in the first heat exchanger that functions as a condenser is temporarily stored in the liquid receiver during a heating operation, and then flows to the expansion valve. The refrigerant which is stored in the liquid receiver is supplemented to the first heat exchanger during a cooling operation to control the balance of the quantity of refrigerant according to the cooling and heating operation.
