PURPOSE: An emergency control method of an electrical gear shift is provided to promote the safety of a driver by controlling an electronic shift lever to be changed into an N stage forcibly in case of a communication disturbance between an electronic shift lever unit and TCU. CONSTITUTION: An emergency control method of an electrical gear shift lever has a characteristic of having the following: a communication status ascertaining step(S200) which determines whether a communication between lever control units included in an electrical gear shift lever unit are normal; and a N stage shifting step(S300) which controls a speed shifter to locate a gear in the N stage using a TCU. The emergency control method of the electrical gear shift lever also includes a mode switch operation ensuring step(S400) which ensures an operation status of a mode switch in which the TCU is contained in the electrical shift lever unit.
