Provided is a power storage system with which a power storage device for backup can be effectively used for power load levelling in a power transmission system or for supplying power to a DC load such as an electric automobile, while high backup reliability is maintained during a power outage. The power storage system is provided with a smart meter (E) that, while a first switch (SW1) is OFF, carries out selection control to connect a second power storage device (17) to either a power-levelling circuit (A) to which a second power conversion device (18) is connected or a power supply circuit (B) to which an electric automobile (50) is connected, with said selection control being carried out on the basis of the remaining capacity of the second power storage device (17), power demand information of a power transmission system (M), and power supply request information from the electric automobile (50). |
