PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering column fixing device capable of reducing an operation force necessary for the lever operation of the steering column fixing device and increasing the fixing force of the steering column, and to provide a cam used for the steering column fixing device.SOLUTION: Ends R of the cam projections 43a and 43b of a movable cam 37 are molded so that a curvature gradually becomes larger toward a diameter-direction inner side. Thus, when the cam surfaces 62a and 62b of a fixing cam 36 guide the cam projections 43a and 43b of the movable cam 37, the cam surfaces 62a and 62b and the cam projections 43a and 43b are contacted with each other only at the inside of a circumference coaxial to the fixing cam 36 passing through a middle point between the diameter-direction outside ends of the apex surfaces 60a and 60b of a cam element and the diameter-direction inside end thereof, and a portion where friction occurs between the movable cam 37 and the fixing cam 36 is brought close to the rotation center of the movable cam 37. |
