<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer which imparts a suitable viscosity to a mixture containing a cellulosic biomass, or the like, on the production of the hydrolyzable cellulose from the cellulosic biomass as a raw material, wherein the decomposition of the cellulosic biomass to a molecular level can be facilitated, and the hydrolyzable cellulose can consequently efficiently be produced; and to provide a method for producing the hydrolyzable cellulose using the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided the polyvinyl alcohol-based polymer used for producing the hydrolyzable cellulose from the cellulosic biomass as a raw material and having acetoacetyl group-containing units or diacetone acrylamide units in an amount of ≥0.1 mol% and ≤10 mol%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
