<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitter wheel and a projection type image display apparatus in which heat radiation characteristics can be improved without depending on a heat conduction member constituting a rotary surface of the light emitter wheel and irrespective of whether or not a radiation fin is attached to the light emitter wheel. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitter wheel 20 comprises: a rotary surface 21 having a first principal surface 21P and a second principal surface 21Q; and a light emitter (e.g. light emitter G) that emits reference image light in response to excitation light. The light emitter is provided on the first principal surface 21P. A heat radiation paint area 23 on which heat paint is applied is provided on the second principal surface 21Q.
