This illumination device (10) is provided with: a plate-like light guide plate (16) which has a light incidence surface (16c) onto which light is incident and a light emission surface (16a) from which the light incident from the light incidence surface (16c) is emitted; a reflection sheet (21) which has an end portion (211) extending outwards relative to the light incidence surface (16c), the front side (21a) of the reflection sheet (21) being placed on the rear-side plate surface (16b) of the light guide plate (16); and a light source unit (LU) which has a plurality of light sources (17), a connector (19A) which relays power to be supplied to the light sources (17), and a light source substrate (18) which is mounted such that the light sources (17) face the light incidence surface (16c) and such that the connector (19A) is positioned to the rear side (21b) of the end portion (211) of the reflection sheet (21).
