The device has a desk unit (10) movable from a stowed position into a user position. A kinematics unit (14) moveably connects the desk unit with a fixing unit (12) relative to each other, where the fixing unit fastens the desk unit to the device. The kinematics unit comprises a lifting unit (16) lifting the desk unit during moving from the stowed position into the user position. The kinematics unit comprises a stiffener unit i.e. torque tube, synchronizing the lifting unit, and a hinge joint (30) provided with a reduced movement freedom, where the lifting unit includes a multi-joint unit (18).
