<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner in which an outdoor unit does not transmit an abnormal signal to an indoor unit and does not indicate a power factor improving circuit failure even if an overvoltage which is not caused from a power factor improving circuit failure occurs. <P>SOLUTION: The air conditioner includes: an outdoor unit having a power supply unit including a control unit that controls a power factor improving semiconductor switch on the basis of the DC voltage detected by a voltage detector; and an indoor unit having the main power supply switch that turns ON/OFF the AC voltage to be supplied to the power supply unit. When the DC voltage detected by the voltage detector reaches or exceeds an upper limit voltage, the control unit of the power supply unit turns OFF the power factor improving semiconductor switch, and outputs a control signal to the indoor unit to turn OFF the main power supply switch. During suspension of a compressor, the control signal is not output even when the DC voltage detected by the voltage detector reaches or exceeds an upper limit voltage. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
