<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a good tone quality with a long decay time by forming a closed cavity directly in a neck of a stringed instrument to form the closed cavity according as preliminarily planned design. <P>SOLUTION: When a cavity 1 slender in a lengthwise direction of a neck portion 2 is formed in the neck portion 2 of a stringed instrument like a sanshin, the cavity 1 resonates with vibrations of strings to extend the decay time of resonance of the entire stringed instrument in combination with the function that a body portion resonates with vibrations of strings to emit sounds, whereby the tone quality is improved. Since the cavity 1 is formed in the neck portion 2, the neck portion 2 is reduced in weight. When one end or both ends of the cavity 1 are opened, sounds escape to degrade the tone quality. But when both ends of the cavity 1 are closed to seal up the cavity 1, resonance does not escape to improve the tone quality. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
