PURPOSE: A master cylinder is provided to effectively sense the movement of a piston regardless of the rotation of the piston through a sensing unit. CONSTITUTION: A master cylinder comprises a cylinder(1), a piston(2), and a sensing unit(5). The piston is installed inside the cylinder in order to enable to retreat. The sensing unit comprises a magnet(6) and a hall sensor(7). The sensing unit senses the movement of the piston for sensing the braking of a vehicle. The magnet is installed in the piston in order to move with the piston. The hall sensor is installed outside the cylinder in order to react to the magnetic force of the magnet.
