[Also in Divisions B2 and C3] Apparatus for bi-fluid spraying incorporates a chamber 22, Fig. 1 in which a supply of one of the fluids to be sprayed is maintained at constant pressure, a delivery chamber 26 in communication with the chamber 22 by way of a plurality of pipe lines, such as that shown at 25, each of which is under the control of a valve 31, Fig. 3, a pump 28 having its inlet in communication with the delivery chamber and with a supply 30 of the other liquid to be sprayed, multiple spraying pipe lines, such as that shown at 29, in communication with the pump output and each with its own individual manually operable valve CV, a flow responsive valve 32 in each spraying line actuable simultaneously with the valve 31 and forming with the latter a single unit FV, and biassing means, such as a spring 332, for closing the valves when the valve CV is shut. The pressure of foam-producing liquid in the chamber 22 is kept constant by a pump 21 and a relief valve 24 while the rate of flow to the chamber 26 is determined by a manually adjustable metering valve M and may 'be additionally limited by a rotary cylindrical cock situated upstream of the valve 31 and having radial ports of varying size or by a plate with a single trumpet shaped orifice situated downstream of the valve 31 which may be a clock valve, similar in construction to the valve 32, instead of a butterfly valve, as shown, The pumps 21 and 28 may be driven at constant speed by the governor controlled engine of a motor vehicle to maintain a constant pressure indication in the outlet of the pump 28 and the apparatus may be mounted on a manually or mechanically propelled trailer fore fire-fighting, agricultural or horticultural purposes.</p> |
