[Also in Division F1] In a pressure-scavenged I.C. engine pressurized fuel gas is admitted into the pressurized air passage through a mechanically actuated rotary valve 20b upstream of the cylinder inlet valve. Pressurized air passes from manifold 11 through housing 12 to the cylinder inlet valve (not shown). Pressurised fuel gas passes from manifold 17 through an annular passage 14 and radial ports 15 in a detachable valve seating 13 through radial parts 21 in valve ring 20. The valve ring is rotated or oscillated by a spring-loaded stem 19, connected to spokes 20a, driven through a chain drive or helical gearing from the engine cam-shaft. A differential gear in the valve drive gear permits alteration of the valve timing.
