A vehicle (100) is provided with a motor generator (130) for generating traveling driving force using electric power from an electric power storage device (110), and an ECU (300) for controlling the motor generator (130). When user's required power is approximately constant, the ECU (300) executes an interval operation in which a vehicle (100) is caused to travel while switching between a first traveling pattern (coasting traveling) in which the generation of driving force by the motor generator (130) is stopped and the vehicle (100) travels by the inertial force thereof, and a second traveling pattern (acceleration traveling) in which the vehicle travels using the driving force generated by the motor generator (130). Consequently, the energy efficiency of the vehicle (100) is improved. |
