This nonaqueous secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator and a nonaqueous electrolyte. This nonaqueous secondary battery is characterized in that: the negative electrode comprises a negative electrode mixture layer that contains a negative electrode material which contains silicon and oxygen as constituent elements, with the atomic ratio (x) of the oxygen to the silicon being 0.5 <= x <= 1.5; the positive electrode comprises a positive electrode mixture layer that contains a complex oxide represented by general formula (1) or general formula (2); and the nonaqueous electrolyte contains a halogen-substituted cyclic carbonate and a boric acid triester.
