<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of activating a solid polymer fuel cell FC by which a higher battery performance can be showed from a time point immediately after performance of activation. <P>SOLUTION: The method of activating a solid polymer fuel cell FC is provided. The solid polymer fuel cell FC has a proton conductive polymer membrane F1 and an anode An and a cathode Ca provided on both surfaces of this polymer membrane F1, and further has an anode gas supply port F4 for supplying gas to the anode An, a cathode gas supply port F6 for supplying gas to the cathode Ca, and a cathode gas discharging port F7 for discharging the gas existing at the cathode Ca. While supplying hydrogen gas from the anode gas supply port F4 to the anode An and supplying inactive gas from the cathode gas supply port F6 to the cathode Ca, the cathode gas discharging port F7 is closed, and an external power supply 4 periodically changes a potential of the cathode Ca to the anode An within a range of 0-1 V. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
