PURPOSE: An image recognition system of a vehicle and a method thereof are provided to enable to cope with a case that ambient brightness is suddenly changed by controlling optimal exposure after the predetermined number of frames or the considerable space of time while continuously obtaining images of different brightness. CONSTITUTION: An image recognition system(100) of a vehicle comprises a camera(101), an image acquisition unit(103), a vehicle control unit(107), and an exposure control unit(109). The camera photographs a road where the vehicle drives at one or more positions defined in advance. The image acquisition unit obtains one or more road images through the camera. The vehicle control unit recognizes road information through the road images and controls the operation of the vehicle according to the road information. The exposure control unit periodically controls an exposure value of the camera in order that the image acquisition unit can obtain road images of different brightness.
