<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device reduced in display performance change resulting from temperature and humidity changes. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device includes: a pair of opposite substrates at least one of which has an electrode; a liquid crystal layer arranged between the pair of substrates and controlled in orientation; a liquid crystal cell (10) in which an electric field is generated by the electrode, the electric field having a parallel component with respect to a substrate having the electrode; and a pair of polarization plates (PLa and PLb) arranged with the liquid crystal cell (10) between them. At least one (PLa and/or PLb) of the pair of polarization plates has polarizers (12a and 12b) and a thermoplastic resin film containing a lactone-ring-containing polymer satisfying the expressions (I) and (II): (I) 0≤¾Re(630)¾≤10 and ¾Rth(630)¾≤25, and (II) ¾Re(400)-Re(700)¾≤10 and ¾Rth(400)-Rth(700)¾≤35. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
