<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric fishing reel that enables a user to easily hold a fishing rod and a reel body by one hand, to smoothly operate an operation member for adjusting motor output by the thumb of the hand and to firmly hold the reel even during operation of the operation member or in the case of sudden application of a large load. <P>SOLUTION: The electric fishing reel comprises: a spool to which a fishing line is wound; a driving motor which is installed in the reel body 5 and rotationally drives the spool; and the operation member 30 adjusting the output of the driving motor. The operation member 30 is rotatably supported behind a front end of a flange of the spool and on an upper part of at least either right or left side panel 5A or 5B.
