<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection device that prevents leak of fuel to an intermediate chamber formed between a control piston member and a nozzle valve member and improves controllability of fuel injection. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel injection device 100 includes: a body unit 10 having an inlet port 25, a discharge port 33 and an ejection hole 14; a nozzle needle 50; and a command piston 60. In the body unit 10, a spring chamber 18 is formed between the nozzle needle 50 and the command piston 60, and a control chamber 20 is formed on the side opposite the spring chamber 18 of the command piston 60. A discharge passage 34 between the control chamber 20 and the discharge port 33 includes a valve element 86 which connects/disconnects the discharge passage 34 and the port 33. A supply passage 28 includes an inlet throttle 30. An inlet-side throttle 32a smaller in passage diameter than the inlet throttle 30 is formed in an inlet-side passage 32.
