FOG DETECTION SYSTEM USING CCTV IMAGE, AND METHOD FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: A fog detection system using a CCTV(Closed-Circuit Television) image and a method thereof are provided to automatically check whether fog is generated or not by using an installed CCTV without installing a fog sensor. CONSTITUTION: A real time image photographing unit(110) photographs a road image by using a CCTV(closed-circuit television). A still image converter(120) converts the road image into a static image. An image processing unit(130) applies a wavelet packet algorithm to the static image. The image processing unit extracts a feature vector from the static image. The image processing unit calculates a variance corresponding to the dispersed degree of the extracted feature vector. If the variance value is smaller than a set threshold value, a fog decision unit(140) determines a fog generation.
