A method of channel cancellation for a cellular communication device is disclosed. The method comprises receiving (100) a signal comprising desired symbols and interfering symbols; regenerating (102) a symbol sequence of interfering symbols expected to be received; determining (106), prior to any complete decoding of the interfering symbols by the cellular communication device, whether one or more received interfering symbols agree with the regenerated interfering symbols, and then if the one or more received interfering symbols are determined to agree with regenerated interfering symbols, subtracting (108) the regenerated symbol sequence from the received signal to form an adapted signal, or if the one or more received interfering symbols are determined not to agree with regenerated interfering symbols, omitting (107) at least the regenerated interfering symbols not agreeing with the received interfering symbols from the subtracting (108) of the regenerated symbol sequence from the received signal when forming the adapted signal; and then decoding (110) the desired symbols from the adapted signal. A radio receiver, cellular communication apparatus and computer program are also disclosed.
