A thermally controlled valve having a two-piece valve housing (1, 4), a closing part (8), a bimetallic element (10) and having an adjusting device (5), which can be controlled from the outside, for the opposing bearing (11) of the bimetallic element (10). A compression spring element (12), which is supported by the housing part (1) holding the valve seat (7), acts on the side of the opposing bearing (11) facing away from the bimetallic element (10). The spring movement of the compression spring element (12) in the stress relief direction is limited by a pretensioning force which is greater than the bimetallic operating force provided. A compression-force transmission element (14) extends between the opposing bearing (11) and the adjusting device (5). Assembly and also dismantling of the valve is possible without manipulation on the adjusting device. <IMAGE>
