[Class 80(iii)] In a screw and nut mechanism utilizing balls 30 co-operating between helical grooves on the screw and nut members 26, 21 a longitudinal insert 50 is provided on one member with grooves 52 on one side to provide cross-over channels for the balls to circulate continuously in single turns grooves of one member. Ribs 63 are provided on the other side of the insert to project into the helical grooving of the other member and deflect the balls into the crossover channels. Longitudinal fillets 57, 58 may be arranged in the corners of the channel 54 which receives the insert 50 to provide ramps for the passage of the balls. |
