The method involves attaching the sealing profile (3) to door chassis (12) of vehicle. A sensor is provided to determine remaining length of sealing profile, after attaching sealing profile to door chassis of vehicle. A plate like structure (11) is displaceable between seal profile and door chassis while performing measurement operation using sensor. The cutting operation of sealing profile is controlled based on the sensor signal output by sensor. An independent claim is included for device for attaching and cutting off circumferential sealing profile on door chassis of vehicle.
