A method for determining a failure in passive transfer of immunity to a neonatal ungulate. The method comprises obtaining oral secretions from the neonatal ungulate and measuring the amount of immunoglobulins in the oral secretions relative to a control sample. The neonatal ungulate can be bovine, in particular Bos Taurus or Bos primigenius. Also disclosed is a method of treating failure in passive transfer of immunity in a neonatal ungulate by administering a composition comprising immunoglobulins. |
