Changing the read-out configuration of a (e.g. pressure or temperature) sensor by exchanging excitation and sensing between two sets of nodes and evaluating the similarity or deviation between measurement signals obtained in different configurations. This utilises internal redundancy of the sensor to provide a test for its correct operation. The sensor may be based on difference measurement circuit 60 (e.g. impedance bridge, Wheatstone bridge) comprising two ports P1, P1â and P2, P2â for connection to two sets of nodes A,B and C,D; and switching units 61 and 62 for switching excitation signals emanating from excitation nodes Câ , Dâ from being applied to the first set of nodes A,B to being applied to the second set C,D and for switching differential measurement signals measured at sensing nodes Aâ , Bâ from being obtained from the second set of nodes C, D to being obtained from the first set A,B. |
