<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for the treatment of waste, particularly general waste. <P>SOLUTION: The process for the treatment of waste includes: a pyrolysis step of treating the waste by a pyrolysis unit to produce an offgas and a non-airborne, solid char material; and a plasma treatment step of subjecting the offgas and non-airborne, solid char material to plasma treatment in a plasma treatment unit in the presence of oxygen and, optionally, steam; wherein the plasma treatment unit is separated from the pyrolysis unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
