摘要 <p>An image display device has: an excitation light source (5); a fluorescent screen (6) provided with a plurality of fluorescent body regions arranged periodically in an in-plane direction and a retroreflection region for returning a part of incident light to a direction opposite the incidence direction; a scanning means (4) for scanning the fluorescent screen (6) using excitation light from the excitation light source (5); a light detection means (2) in which the output value changes according to the amount of incident light; a reflection means (3) for reflecting retroreflection light (7) from the retroreflection region toward the light detection means (2); and a control means (1) for causing a scan to be performed by the scanning means (4), detecting the boundary between the retroreflection region and each of the fluorescent body regions on the fluorescent screen (6) on the basis of the output of the light detection means (2), and controlling the light emission timing of the excitation light source (5) on the basis of the detected boundary.</p>
