<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a carbon fiber-containing nonwoven fabric and a carbon fiber nonwoven fabric that is excellent in shape retainability with little drop-off and removal of fibers. <P>SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a nonwoven fabric having a basis weight of 20-200 g/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>and a fabric thickness of 0.1-2.0 mm and comprising: 40-95 mass% of carbon short fibers (A) having a fiber diameter of 3-8 μm and a cut length of 2-6 mm; and 5-60 mass% of ultrafine acrylonitrile-based fibers (B) comprising an acrylonitrile-based polymer containing 50 mass% or more of acrylonitrile and having a fineness of 0.05-0.3 dtex and a cut length of 2-6 mm. The method includes processes of: repeatedly forming a sheet-making web from a papermaking slurry containing the carbon short fibers (A) and the ultrafine acrylonitrile-based fibers (B) to produce a multilayered sheet-making web; and water jet punching the multilayered sheet-making web to integrally entangling the multilayered sheet-making web. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
