<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binder composition for an electrode capable of producing an electrode that has high binding property, a small internal resistance, and excellent charging and discharging characteristics, and can maintain the properties and the characteristics over a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: A binder composition for an electrode according to the present invention includes polymer particles comprising (A) a constitutional unit derived from an α,β-unsaturated nitrile compound of 5 to 40 pts. mass and (B) a constitutional unit derived from a compound represented by the following general formula (1) of 1 to 10 pts. mass. A number-average particle size of the polymer particles is 50 to 350 nm.
