SMART SETTOP BOX AND OPERATING METHOD FOR SMART SERVICE AND DIGITAL TELEVISION SERVICE USING SINGLE OPERATING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A smart set top box for providing a smart service and a television service in a single operating system and an operating method thereof are provided to guarantee a DTV stack and an android platform, thereby quickly supporting update of the platform. CONSTITUTION: A processor(610) operates an OS(Operating System) which includes a kernel and libraries which are made of drivers and binder drives for hardware. A memory(620) loads applications and a DTV(Digital Television) stack. The applications are designed by an API(Application Programming Interface) of a framework corresponding to the OS. The DTV stack includes DTV and security service functions. The processor provides a smart service and a DTV service in a single OS which allows communication between the application and the DTV stack.
