The invention relates to a product applicator device comprising: a reservoir (20) that extends along a central axis (X) between a proximal end (22) and a distal end (23); a cap (52) that is connected to the distal end of the reservoir, said cap having an opening (54) along the central axis; a spherical plug valve (57) mounted such that it can pivot in the cap in order to selectively open and close the reservoir; and a rod (16) extending along the central axis as far as an applicator head (19), which rod can move axially between retracted and extended positions. The plug valve is opened and the rod is subsequently extended by actuating a base (3) which is mounted such that it can move with respect to an external body (2) that is solidly connected to the cap.
