<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stereoscopic image presentation system in which stereoscopic recognition is facilitated by enabling a stereoscopic image to be recognized, while also including an outer field within the field of view like a normal television, as is. <P>SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an image display device for virtual image observation to be used for the stereoscopic image presentation system, wherein one of eyes of an observer is made to observe a real image for naked-eye observation and the other eye is made to observe a virtual image so as to recognize stereoscopic image. The image display device comprises a display screen for virtual image observation disposed in front of the one eye, an image-deforming means for deforming an image displayed on the display screen, and an image deformation information selecting means for the observer to select image deformation information, corresponding to a deformed image deformed by the image deforming means.
