<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for detecting a failure of a fuel supply valve supplying through injection gaseous fuel during air supply in a gas engine, and especially, a failure detection apparatus and method of the fuel supply valve in the gas engine, which can detect gas leakage during a valve closing period, generated during operation in the fuel supply valve. <P>SOLUTION: The failure detection apparatus includes: a vibration sensor 51 arranged in the fuel supply valve 26; a cycle phase supply device supplying a signal indicating opening and closing timing of the fuel supply valve; and a failure transmitter 50 determining the fuel supply valve to be abnormal, based on a vibration due to opening and closing of the fuel supply valve 26, with a vibration measurement signal supplied by the vibration sensor 51 and a fuel supply valve opening and closing timing indication signal inputted thereto, and outputting a failure signal.
