ADAPTIVE CODING CONTROL SYSTEM FOR MOVING PICTURE SIGNAL

摘要

PURPOSE:To attain coding with less de-framing and block distortion by making a pass band width of a filter narrow when lots of production information quantity exist and widening the pass band width of the filter when the quantity is less. CONSTITUTION:An inputted moving picture digital signal enters a coder 12 through a pre-filter 11 operated through the reception from a coding control signal by a coding generating information quantity monitor section 13 for adaptive coding control. The pre-filter 11 consists of a filter control section 15 and a low pass filter section 14. The filter control section 15 is controlled adaptively so as to make the pass band narrow when the information quantity is much and to make the pass band wide when the information quantity is less. Thus, the coding rate is reduced without deteriorating timewise resolution and coding with less block distortion is attained.
