PURPOSE: A method and system for providing magnetic layers with insertion layers are provided to improve the performance of memories based on spin transfer torque. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic junction includes a pinned layer, a non-magnetic spacer layer, and a free layer. The non-magnetic spacer layer is located between the pinned layer and the free layer. The free layer is switched between a plurality of stable magnetic states when a write current flows through the magnetic junction. One of the pinned layer and the free layer includes a magnetic sub structure(100). The magnetic sub structure includes a first ferromagnetic layer(110), an insertion layer(120), and a second ferromagnetic layer(130). The first magnetic layer and the second magnetic layer are exchanged and combined. |
