<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gasoline engine capable of efficiently removing particulate matter included in exhaust gas. <P>SOLUTION: The gasoline engine 1 includes: a combustion chamber 2 to which gasoline fuel is supplied; and a spark plug 3 for igniting the gasoline fuel supplied to the combustion chamber 2. A purifying device 4 for collecting particulate matter 10 included in exhaust gas is provided on an exhaust passage of the exhaust gas generated in the combustion chamber 2 due to the combustion of the gasoline fuel. The gasoline engine 1 is configured to apply a voltage to a spark discharge gap 30 of the spark plug 3 when performing an exhaust stroke for exhausting the exhaust gas from the combustion chamber 2. The particulate matter 10 is easily collected in the purifying device 4 by using the spark plug 3 to electrically charge the particulate matter 10. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
