PURPOSE: A decoding control method in a receiver and a decoding control device are provided to determine whether decoding is successful or failed, thereby controlling a repetition frequency. CONSTITUTION: A decoding unit(402) decodes a received code word. A controller(403) determines whether decoding is successful. The controller determines an unreliable bit number if the decoding is failed. When the unreliable bit number is lower than a first threshold value, the controller repetitively performs decoding. The controller includes a checking unit(404). The checking unit checks whether a parity check matrix and an n bit code word satisfy Hxc=0 wherein the parity check matrix is H and the n bit code word is c.
