The device (1) has a cooking area (2) heated by a steam source (3) attached to the cooking area. A steam outlet opening (8) is provided at the cooking area, where the cooking area stays in connection with the environment via the outlet opening. A temperature detector is provided for detecting characteristic cooking area temperature (12) and arranged in a flow path of a gas stream passing through the outlet opening. Steam inlet openings are arranged in a vertically offset manner on planes and designed as steam nozzles, where the detector is arranged at an outer side of the cooking area. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a cooking device. |
