The appliance (1) has an electric drive motor (7) i.e. disk motor, for driving a movable component i.e. laundry drum (3). A stator winding is formed by planar copper strip conductors. A planar switching carrier i.e. thin film, on which the strip conductors are attached, is printed. The stator winding is constructed by a multilayer fabrication so that the strip conductors are distributed on three layers. The stator winding includes three phase strands, which are arranged on layers. A stator and a rotor of the drive motor are arranged along a rotational axis (4) of the drive motor. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electric drive motor in a household appliance.
