PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device with the same are provided to include color patterns on a light diffusing sheet, thereby converting red/green/blue light emitted from a light source. CONSTITUTION: A reflecting plate(120) is located on a cover bottom(110). A light guide plate(130) is located on the reflecting plate. A light source(140) is located on a side of the light guide plate. An optical member(150) is located on the light guide plate. A liquid crystal panel(160) is located on the optical member. A panel guide surrounds the frame of the liquid crystal panel. A top cover is coupled with the cover bottom while surrounding the panel guide.
