PURPOSE: A portable device for presentation capable of easily changing a key code and a controlling method thereof are provided to change a key code of a functional key into other key code without setting an additional key code change program in a host device. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller(10) remotely controls a host device. A receiving device(20) is connected to the host device and mediates between the host device and the remote controller by wireless. If the change information about a key code is received from the remote controller, the receiving device replaces the received key code with the changed key code according to the change information. The receiving device sends the replaced key code to the host device.
