MOBILE TERMINAL FOR PERFORMING VERTICAL HANDOVER IN HETEROGENEOUS NETWORKS AND HANDOVER METHOD USING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A portable terminal and handover method using the same are provided to increase selection rates of a Wi-Fi network by calculating weighted values in each network. CONSTITUTION: A data normalizing unit(410) extracts current data rates from the strength of SNR(Signal to Noise Ratios). The data normalizing unit calculates the normalized data rates by dividing the current data rates by maximum data rates. A load normalizing unit(420) calculates the load rate of the normalized network by dividing current network loads by whole network loads. A network selection unit(440) respectively applies different weighted values to the normalized data rates, the normalized network load, and normalized network costs.
