TREATMENT OF INFLAMMATION

The use of a USP7 inhibitor as an anti-inflammatory agent in the treatment of acute or chronic inflammation is described. The USP7 inhibitor can be a gene knockdown tool, for example a siRNA molecule, an antibody, or a potent small molecule inhibitor of USP7. The USP7 inhibitor prevents de-ubiquitination of NF-kB by USP7 while bound to target gene promoters, thereby decreasing NF-kB transcriptional activity and reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory genes.
