A gaseous mixture consisting largely of hydrogen, together with carbon dioxide, and having an av.mol.wt. of approx. 8-20 is centrifugally compressed increase the gas pressure to 40-70 atm. and eliminate the carbon dioxide from the compressed gas by direct contact with a physical liquid solvent. Specif. the gaseous mixture is raw hydrogen coming from a hydrogen plant.
