<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device which prevents an increase in pressure loss caused by clogging with deposited ash, removes particulate substances efficiently and also purifies harmful gases efficiently, with less pressure losses. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust emission control device includes a discharge terminal 10, a honeycomb catalyst body 20 having a partition wall 23 and a catalyst, and a metal can body 30. The discharge terminal 10 is used as one electrode, and at least one of either a portion 30a holding at least the honeycomb catalyst body 20 of the can body 30 and the outer edge portion 20a of the honeycomb catalyst body 20 is used as the other electrode. A voltage is applied between one electrode and the other electrode to generate discharge around the discharge terminal 10, and also to generate an electric field between one electrode and the other electrode. Thus, the particulate substances which flow inside a cell 22 and is electrified through discharging can be guided on the other electrode side to be deposited on the partition wall 23. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
