The body has a carriage assembly (12) with a longitudinal beam (14) that is assembled from lower and upper partial elements (16, 18, 18'). Connection components e.g. outer paneling parts such as fenders (36, 36'), are secured at the respective partial elements. The upper partial elements are formed depending on constructive variation of the body, and the lower partial element is overlappingly formed over other constructive variations. Attachment points (34, 34') of the connection components are formed at the longitudinal beam depending on the constructive variations of the body. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a body of a motor vehicle.
