A battery device (20; 32; 36; 37) has a body unit (21; 33) having a battery pack (25) mounted thereto, an adaptor cord (23) and a connecting device (C1; C2; C3; C4; C5). An adaptor cord (23) can connect the body unit (21; 33) to a power tool (10). A connecting device (C1; C2; C3; C4; C5) is associated with the adaptor cord (23) for permitting the body unit (21; 33) to be separated from the power tool (10).
